Watching 2011’s dreadfully slow TINKER TAILER SOLDIER SPY with the always engaging Gary Oldman. One cannot help but reflect on the United States’ victorious claim to have beaten the former USSR in the so called Cold War. The United States and Great Britain “battled” the Solveits for over forty-five years in what was indeed a war, of some kind at least, but an entirely new kind of war. Not one of honor and valor fought on the battlefield by soldiers, but… And that’s the question mark isn’t it. How much honor and valor have we lost in our shift towards spying, double agents and moles and covert opps versus facing each other bravely sincerely and vulnerably man to man On the battlefield…
